Currently, --enable-small turns av_always_inline into plain inline,
which is more or less ignored by the compiler. While the intent of
this is probably to reduce code size by avoiding some inlining, it
has more far-reaching effects.
We use av_always_inline in two situations:
1. The body of a function is smaller than the call overhead.
Instances of these are abundant in libavutil, the bswap.h
functions being good examples.
2. The function is a template relying on constant propagation
through inlined calls for sane code generation. These are
often found in motion compensation code.
Both of these types of functions should be inlined even if targeting
small code size.
Although GCC has heuristics for detecting the first of these types,
it is not always reliable, especially when the function uses inline
assembler, which is often the reason for having those functions in
the first place, so making it explicit is generally a good idea.
The size increase from inlining template-type functions is usually
much smaller than it seems due to different branches being mutually
exclusive between the different invocations. The dead branches can,
however, only be removed after inlining and constant propagation have
been performed, which means the initial cost estimate for inlining
these is much higher than is actually the case, resulting in GCC
often making bad choices if left to its own devices.
Furthermore, the GCC inliner limits how much it allows a function to
grow due to automatic inlining of calls, and this appears to not take
call overhead into account. When nested inlining is used, the limit
may be hit before the innermost level is reached. In some cases, this
has prevented inlining of type 1 functions as defined above, resulting
in significant performance loss.

It is included for the open/read/write/close functions. On
MSVC, where this header does not exist, the same functions
are provided by io.h, which is already included.
On windows, these functions are provided by io.h. Make sure
io.h is included if it exists, regardless of the setmode
function.

This adds a fallback for cbrtf() using powf(x, 1/3). Since
powf() with a non-integer exponent requires a non-negative
base, special handling of negative inputs is needed.

This adds two protocols, but one of them is an internal implementation
detail just used as an abstraction layer/generalization in the code. The
RTMPT protocol implementation uses rtmphttp:// as an alternative to the
tcp:// protocol. This allows moving most of the lower level logic out
from the higher level generic rtmp code.

Defining restrict results - for some compilers - in changing other
uses of the restrict keyword also, e.g. __declspec(restrict) gets
changed to __declspec(__restrict) on MSVC. This causes compilation
failures. Therefore, using a private namespace macro instead is
more reliable and robust.

AMR NB and WB decoders are optimized for MIPS architecture.
Appropriate Makefiles are changed accordingly.

FATE_SAMPLES is now used directly by the Makefiles, which induces the test
system to run a test with the value of the environment variable as name.
Renaming the environment variable to LIBAV_SAMPLES avoids this problem.

This disables the warning "external declaration in primary source file"
which is issued when a prototype for an extern function is found in a
.c file rather than a header file. We have such prototypes for asm
functions where a separate header file would be pointless.

Generating warnings when casting const away leads to tight constraints
on the code if one wants to avoid warnings. This is especially true for
generic code that is supposed to work with both const and non const.
These tight constrains cause people to waste time trying to find a
way to write code so it doesnt generate any warning, while people
should rather spend their time thinking on how to write fast,
clean, maintainable and bug free code.
Removing this class of warnings fixes this issue.

The code is based on the remove-logo filter in MPlayer/libmpcodecs, by
Robert Edele, relicensed to LGPL with consent of the author.
Address trac issue #249.
Since the mandatory memcpy in vsrc_buffer has been eliminated, there
shouldn't be any significant reason to build without lavfi anymore.
This will make upcoming support for complex filtergraphs easier to do.

This one is available both in SDL 1.2 and in 1.3 (which is the current
version available e.g. in macports), while 1.3 doesn't contain
SDL_Linked_Version().
The current check for SDL_Linked_Version() (available since SDL 1.2.13)
was added in 8f1b06c8, because including the headers for SDL_Init()
redirects the main() function, requiring the main function signature
to match the one of SDL_main (including argc/argv).

This library does not fit into Libav as a whole and its code is just a
maintenance burden. Furthermore it is now available as an external project,
which completely obviates any reason to keep it around.

This structure is well defined by Microsoft at:

Thus, the wDecodedPictureIndex member is guaranteed to exist.
Also, both the MPEG-2 and VC-1 hwaccel decoders depend on this struct member,
but only the VC-1 decoder was disabled if the check failed.

Now that 0.8 is out we can reapply this commit. It breaks shared
avserver builds due to avserver using internal libavformat symbols,
which are now hidden, so this commit also disables avserver with
--enable-shared.

Port MPlayer tinterlace filter from MPlayer, with some ideas taken
from the FFmbc/libavfilter port, with the following main differences:
* added support for full-scale YUVJ formats
* added support for YUVA420P
* request_frame() on the filter is forced to return a frame
* some code factorization (related to the copy_picture_fields() function)
* fixed black padding values for mode 3

When turned on, H264/CAVLC gets ~15% (CVPCMNL1_SVA_C.264) slower for
ultra-high-bitrate files, or ~2.5% (CVFI1_SVA_C.264) for lower-bitrate
files. Other codecs are affected to a lesser extent because they are
less optimized; e.g., VC-1 slows down by less than 1% (all on x86).
The patch generated 3 extra instructions (cmp, cmovae and mov) per
call to get_bits().
The performance penalty on ARM is within the error margin for most
files, up to 4% in extreme cases such as CVPCMNL1_SVA_C.264.

The function strtok_r() is part of the POSIX.1 specification, but is not
available on some platforms. We provide an internal implementation, so we
do not need to rely on a platform implementation.
With the following additions:

When using suncc to build, the Solaris linker will mark
an executable with each instruction set encountered by
the Solaris assembler. As our libraries contain their own
guards for processor-specific code, instead suppress
generation of the HWCAPS ELF section on Solaris x86 only.

Similar to libswscale this does resampling and format convertion, just for audio
instead of video.

Add aconvert filter to perform sample format, channel layout, and
packing format conversion.
The aconvert code depends on audio conversion code in libavcodec, so
this requires a dependency on libavcodec.
Based on previous work by S.N. Hemanth Meenakshisundaram and Mina Nagy
Zaki, performed for the GSoC 2010 and 2011.
I dont know on which system the prior check failed but an advanced
linker on some platform might have optimized func() out as unreachable.

This is the same code as for x86_64.
This is necessary because uname returns PPC64 if the hardware
is 64 bit, however the userland can still be fully 32 bit.
In that case FFmpeg fails to compile because some macros in the
asm code are set up incorrectly.

symbolic links when building outside of the ffmpeg source tree.

In -std=c99 mode GCC defines __STRICT_ANSI__ to hide non-ANSI interfaces.

Older nasm versions have trouble assembling certain AVX instructions, but the
current AVX check did not detect this. Update the check to use an instruction
that triggers the nasm problem.
This separation allows these functions to be used in a cleaner
fashion from other codecs (e.g. qdm2) and simplifies creating
optimised versions of them.

046f081b46 reorganized the CPPFLAGS to no
longer add -D_POSIX_C_SOURCE unconditionally, but only on systems (e.g.,
glibc based ones) that require it. As kFreeBSD uses glibc, it needs to
be treated similar.
Additionally, _BSD_SOURCE is turned on to enable some additional types
such as caddr_t, which are normally enabled on BSD but not with glibc.

Adding _POSIX_C_SOURCE to CPPFLAGS globally produces all sorts of problems
since it causes certain system functions to be hidden on some (BSD) systems.
The solution is to only add the flag on systems that really require it, i.e.
glibc-based ones.
This change makes BSD systems compile out-of-the-box without the need for
adding specific flags manually. It also allows dropping a number of flags
set manually on a file-per-file basis, but were only present to work around
breakage introduced by the presence of _POSIX_C_SOURCE.
Also add _XOPEN_SOURCE to CPPFLAGS for glibc systems. We use XSI extensions
in several places already, so it is preferable to define it globally instead
of littering source files with individual #defines only needed for glibc.

This restores the behaviour of running only the builtin
regression tests when no path to external samples is given.
aa3805a inadvertently broke this by always setting SAMPLES
to something. Using := makes the ifdef test work as expected
when the FATE_SAMPLES environment variable is empty.

Stripping is generally best left to package management tools, and
since unstripped copies are kept in the build tree, any arguments

As previously discussed, the CrystalHD hardware returns exceptionally
useless information about interlaced h.264 content - to the extent
that it's not possible to distinguish MBAFF and PAFF content until
it's too late.
This change introduces use of the h264_parser to help bridge the
gap; it can indicate if the input data is PAFF fields or not.
With this clarity, some of heuristics can be removed from the code,
making this less convoluted.
Finally, I found an MBAFF clip that acts like non h.264 content so
I had to make allowances for that.
Note that I still cannot distinguish between two forms of PAFF,
where the hardware either returns individual fields or a field-pair.
It's not clear that there's even a spec relevant difference between
the two forms, as opposed to hardware ideosyncracies.

When -std=c99 is used, GCC defines __STRICT_ANSI__ to hide non-ANSI
interfaces; on MinGW32, when this macro is defined, some functions that are
part of POSIX but not of Windows APIs are disabled, including strcasecmp().

Conio.h is a non-standard header and may not have kbhit()
prototyped. This fixes compile on OS/2 where the EMX version (we're
using a fork) of conio.h only has getch() and getche().

Remove usage of tcgetattr and tcsetattr to modify terminal
parameters, and rely on ctrl-c to stop instead of pressing 'q'.
On systems with conio.h, keep the old behavior.
Changing the terminal settings causes problems if multiple instances
are running asynchronously on the same terminal, such as during a
parallel FATE run, or if the process crashes before restoring the
terminal. In both cases, the terminal state is messed up requiring
a manual reset.

The Broadcom CrystalHD decoder chips provide hardware video
decoding for a number of video formats. It does so using a
memory:memory interface where a compressed bitstream is fed
in and decompressed pictures are copied out. As such, it works
independent of any graphics hardware in the system.
Features supported in this initial version:
* Support for Linux (using current drivers/library from git.wilsonet.com)
* Support for 70015 hardware
* Formats: MPEG2, MPEG4 Part 2, H.264, VC1 and DivX 3.11 (untested)
* Progressive content
* Non-H.264 Interlaced content

It is pretty hopeless that other considerable projects will adopt
libavutil alone in other projects. Projects that need small footprint
are better off with more specialized libraries such as gnulib or rather
just copy the necessary parts that they need. With this in mind, nobody
is helped by having libavutil and libavcore split. In order to ease
maintenance inside and around FFmpeg and to reduce confusion where to
put common code, avcore's functionality is merged (back) to avutil.

Recent gcc versions define __ARM_PCS or __ARM_PCS_VFP to indicate the
VFP ABI in use, and ARM RVCT defines __SOFTFP__ when using this ABI.
If none of these are defined, check $cross_prefix and $cc for the
substring "hardfloat", and finally fall back to a linker test. This
gives the correct result in most configurations.
Some linkers fail if this flag is used when creating an executable file.
Since the flag is meaningful only for shared libraries, dropping it from
the main link flags is correct.
Fixed-point AC-3 encoder renamed to ac3_fixed.
Regression test acodec-ac3 renamed to acodec-ac3_fixed.
Regression test lavf-rm changed to use ac3_fixed encoder.

This macro is disabled if --enable-small or --disable-optimizations are set.
Currently, this leads to warnings about functions being defined but not used,
for functions in header files.
By defining av_always_inline as inline or as av_unused, we avoid these
warnings.
This doesn't make a normal build with --enable-small any larger,
since the compiler probably chooses not to inline these functions even
if they're marked as inline.

On OS X, this struct is only available if _DARWIN_C_SOURCE is defined,
when we have _POSIX_C_SOURCE defined. This allows the struct to be found,
enabling proper IPv6 multicast functionality on OS X.
The define is already set within the file that uses the struct. Setting it
only for this test in configure avoids having to keep it defined for the
whole build.

Many H.264 derivatives, like RV40 and VP8, use the H.264 prediction functions
but not the weight/loopfilter functions.

This test verifies the pixdesc code by comparing the output with and
without a filter which should have no effect on the image. Since the
available pixel formats depend on the byte order of the machine, a
simple reference checksum is not possible.
The test originally tried to solve this by generating a reference file
on the fly. The problem with this is that the test framework expects
the reference file in the source tree, and writing to the source tree
is not allowed.
To avoid complicating the test framework, we instead provide two
reference files and select which to use based on the byte order.

Apparently the compiler sometimes bypasses the normal assembler, in
which case the asm label variant works. If the file contains any
inline asm, this bypassing is not done, and the assembler chokes on
invalid syntax. Inserting a dummy asm() statement in the test when
the compiler supports it makes sure no shortcuts are taken and the
test fails as it should.

When symbol versioning is enabled, moving symbols from one library to
another breaks binary compatibility. This adds wrappers with the old
version tag for the av_*packet functions recently moved to lavc.

The test for .align syntax was apparently unreliable with some compilers.
Using the .p2align directive instead avoids the need for this test.
